Traffic shift on I-74 expected to cause significant delays

October 9, 2013 Updated Oct 9, 2013 at 11:09 AM CDT

PEORIA, Ill. -- IDOT announced Wednesday that eastbound and westbound I-74 traffic will be shifted to the newly constructed lanes from Jackson Street to just east of Morton Avenue the evening of October 11.

The traffic shift is necessary to allow for reconstruction of eastbound and westbound lanes of I-74. Traffic will remain in this configuration until late November.

The following lane closures will be necessary to facilitate the traffic stage change:

- EB I-74 left lane and WB I-74 left lane

- 5:30 p.m. October 10 to 6:30 a.m. October 11

- 5:30 p.m. October 11 to 10:00 a.m. October 12

IDOT says these lane closures are likely to result in significant traffic back-ups and travel delays.
