PEORIA, Ill. -- On Tuesday, we will find out which Peoria city council candidates made the cut for the April general election.

Tuesday is Primary day for a couple of city council races, the 1st district and 5th district. There are three candidates in each of the races.

Primary turnout often depends upon interest generated around the issues but this year election officials worry that another factor may keep voters away from the polls.

"I think we got more press on this election than we did on the previous one. More people were talking about it. But now I'm real concerned that the weather's going to have an effect on turnout," said Peoria Election Commission Executive Director Tom Bride.

Bride said turnout for the last primary election, in 2009, was less than 5-percent.
