PEORIA, Ill -- Ameren is reminding the public to be safe in severe weather conditions.

Severe weather season is here, and Ameren wants residents to know proper maintenance of portable generators could save lives. Ameren hosted a severe weather school for members of the media today. The company also displayed one of five Storm Trailers used in Illinois. The trailers are sent to neighborhoods where multiple electrical lines and poles have gone down.

"It's got all the material, I believe, to support all of the hardware for four or five-hundred poles," said Chad Cloninger, Ameren Division 1 Director. "It saves on drive time back to the storerooms, it's closer to the event itself, so it helps speed up the whole process."
