EAST PEORIA, Ill -- This week, manager Jim Goff announced more than a quarter of a million people visited the store in its first month.

Now, the store has been transformed into a winter wonderland as it moves into the holiday season.

Goff says the holidays should bring even more people through the doors and hopefully, more purchases from those people for holiday gifts.

He says despite other reports, Bass Pro is not laying off any workers; in fact, it's hiring more employees.

Goff says, "We're still hiring people, we certainly haven't laid off anybody and we don't anticipate laying off anyone. We will continue to hire for seasonal help. We will continue to watch our business and grow with that."

East Peoria's Mayor says the store is projected to bring in two to three million visitors a year.

The Bass Pro Wonderland will feature daily appearances from Santa Claus through Christmas eve.
