BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- At the Bloomington council meeting Monday night, city officials video voted to permit video gambling within city limits.

City council members say the allowance of video gambling in businesses like VFW halls and truck stops could bring between $200,000 and $600,000 annually.

A non-statistical study conducted by the city shows more than 85 percent of Bloomington residents are in favor of the ordinance.

Video gambling is already allowed in the town of Normal.

Bloomington city officials say it is a way of keeping revenue within their own city.
