LONDON, ENGLAND -- In a little more than a week from now, the 2012 Summer Olympics will kick off in London.
This week, a handful of Bradley University students are preparing to be a part of the action.
Mathew DeFreitas is one of them.
The Metamora High School graduate will head to New York City Thursday for an NBC Olympics internship at the Rockefeller Center.
Close to 100 Bradley students applied for the internship last year.
DeFreitas is one of 10 students chosen to cover the games, doing anything from online video streaming to editing for 12 hours a day, seven days a week.
"The main thing for me is just working hard and showing NBC that Bradley can basically bring it," said DeFreitas, "because Bradley is a small school, and if we show that we're not only good at what we do, but we show that we are good students, we work hard, and can perform well, then that opens doors up in the future for Bradley."
DeFreitas, an incoming Bradley senior, says interns are stationed in both New York and London, and the internship will last three weeks, starting July 21st.
Bradley is one of five schools whose students will participate in the summer Olympic broadcasts.
