CHENOA, Ill. -- A Peoria Coroner's Inquest has ruled the death of 3 year-old Destiny Cox a homicide.

23 year-old David Gharrett is accused of killing the child during an incident at a home in Chenoa on April 28th.

The child was found unresponsive in the home and died a day later at Children's Hospital of Illinois in Peoria from multiple blunt force injuries to her head and abdomen.

Gharrett originally claimed that Destiny choked but later admitted to throwing the little girl into a bath tub after she threw up.

Gharrett faces six counts of murder in the case and remains in custody in lieu of a $200,000 bond.

He is due back in McLean County court on July 7th.
