CHILLICOTHE, Ill. -- Playing outside this summer is now more fun for kids in Chillicothe.
City leaders celebrated the new and improved Cutright Community Park.
The area has new playground equipment and park benches for children and their families to enjoy.
The project cost more than $50,000 and was paid for using money from the TIF District.
Chillicothe's mayor Troy Childers, Sr. said the upgrades were important to compliment events on the river.
"In Chillicothe we have a lot of activities down here at the river park and we need something for the children to do, as well as the people that watch the boats and all of this it just a great, great," said Childers. "I think asset to the city to have down in the river park for the children."
The mayor also said the park is finished just in time for the community to watch the Fourth of July fireworks along the river.
