PEORIA, Ill. -- A one day career fair is coming up in Peoria this weekend.

The NAACP came to the city with concerns about a lack of minorities on public construction projects.

So this career fair is geared toward all minorities, including African Americans, Asians and Hispanics.

Attendees will learn about different construction trades and how to apply to a union hall.

"We have a very diverse community and hopefully we can get it to the point where our building trades and our construction workers are as diverse as our community is, and that's something we're really trying to aspire to," said Peoria City manager Patrick Urich.

The fair is this Saturday, March 1 from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. at the Woodruff Career and Technical School.
