Councilman Sets His Sites on Mayor

There is one person not vying for the 37th district senate seat. Peoria Councilman Eric Turner has expressed in his interest in becoming Peoria's next mayor.

Turner says if current Mayor Jim Ardis is appointed to the Senate, the move with be a great opportunity for him.

"When you have served on the council as long as I have you are hopefully learning and will get the opportunity to do something better. I have no other aspirations but to do that," said Turner.

If Ardis does leave his position for senate, the Peoria City Council will have to take a vote for his replacement. Turner has served 4 consecutive terms on city council.
