PEORIA, Ill. – The conference room at the Crittenton Center in Peoria was transformed into a dental office on Tuesday.

The Familia Dental Mobile Unit was on hand to clean teeth and check for cavities. The exam satisfies the dental requirement by schools. Afterward, children were given a goody bag that included a toothbrush and a toy, but no candy.

The mobile exams help parents who are not able to take their child to a dental office.

“We know that it is very difficult for parents to try and get off of work to go to all of the appointments that they take their kids on,” said Megan Weese, Community Relation Coordinator, Crittenton Center. “We also know how important dental care is, and sometimes it gets pushed to the back burner.”

Familia Dental will provide exams later this week at Myah’s Just Four Kids Learning Center in Peoria and in Bloomington at the YWCA.
