PEORIA, Ill -- Judge Steven Kouri this afternoon sentenced 23 year old Davantae Jordan to 75 years in prison for the murder last year of Adrian Ortega. The sentencing came at the end of a lengthy hearing this afternoon.
Jordan's attorney, Larry Smith, produced a number of character witnesses on Jordan's behalf, including Peoria councilman Clyde Gully. That apparently had no effect on Judge Kouri, who handed down the maximum sentence of 75 years.
Jordan is the last of three defendants to be sentenced for the Ortega murder.
James Reed got a 13 year prison term and Curtis Taylor received a 10 year sentence after both pleaded guilty to lesser charges.
