PEORIA, Ill. -- Those lost to tragedies in the Peoria area were remembered on Sunday at a special memorial.

The Day of Remembrance gave friends and families a chance to pay tribute to their loved ones.

Tamerra Henderson has lost loved ones to drug addiction, car accidents and gun violence.

She said the memorial aims to bring together people who are going through the same kind of loss.

“This is a time where you can say ‘I’m not alone’ because a lot of times during a time of loss and grief we feel like we are the only ones going through it. We think we’re all by ourselves, so to come together tells us I’m not the only one," Henderson said.

Henderson said it is important for people to know that their loved ones are not forgotten.
