PEORIA, Ill. -- Monday was opening day for Emo's Dairy Mart in Peoria.

For a limited time, customers got to enjoy their favorite items for half price. Profits made during that time benefit the Arthritis Foundation Walk and Dog Walk fundraisers.

Customers said the opening is a rite of spring that they would not miss, even if it means eating a Coney Dog for breakfast.

"Me and the guys were talking about it last Thursday at work and I decided I'd come up here and get the boys some breakfast. I heard they have good chili dogs and we like chili dogs where we work so I thought what the hay feed the guys some breakfast," said Scott McElyea of Eureka

Last year's event raised $1,200 for the Arthritis Foundation. This year Emo's hopes to raise $2,000.
