FARMINGTON, Ill.-- A part-time Farmington police officer has resigned after he was arrested twice in less than two days for domestic battery.

Thirty-seven-year-old Michael Whitlow was released from the Peoria County jail this morning on a notice to appear.

He was first arrested early Friday morning when he and a woman got into an argument over a gun.

The victim told police Whitlow had been drinking and had threatened her with a weapon in the past.

After his release, Whitlow was arrested again Saturday afternoon for violating an order of protection. He's scheduled to be in court February 22.

Whitlow was also arrested in 2009 and 2011 for domestic battery against the same woman.
