FARMINGTON, Ill -- Some local students have come up with a creative way to promote reading and sign language.

These Farmington Grade School second graders are singing and signing the song "Each of Us is a Flower" which is being videotaped.

The DVD will be sent out with a book about sign language as part of the United Way's "Success by Six" reading program.

Each month about 3000 books are distributed to children.

"They're gonna make a video and it's gonna be sent to all of the Bright Futures classes in the state of Illinois to teach young children about being successful by age six and reading, being a page turner," Renae Heuerman, music teacher said.

Next month, the students will sing the song outside of the Peoria County Courthouse.
