Former Manual High Basketball Player Dies in Car Accident

A former Manual High School basketball player is dead, after he was involved in a single-vehicle car accident Thursday night.

Gavyn Ford, 27 of Peoria, was a passenger in an SUV pulling a flat bed trailer.

It was traveling eastbound on I-74 near Knoxville when the vehicle left the roadway and overturned.

Ford was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle.

He was taken to a hospital in Galesburg and later life flighted to O.S.F Saint Francis in Peoria where he was pronounced dead just after midnight.

Illinois State Police are investigating the accident.
