PEORIA, Ill. -- More District 150 students may soon be getting free access to the Peoria Public Library system.

The school board, Monday night, voted in favor of giving all students a free library card.

Previously students in West Peoria had to pay for the card, while students living in Peoria did not.

"Some of our schools had a goal of 100 percent of the kids getting a library card, so they can get in the public library and use them," said Dave Kinney, interim treasurer of District 150 School Board. "This was certainly a way for the library to help us out."

The Peoria Public Library Board has to pass the proposal before the cards can be given out.
