Schools may be out for Monday's national holiday, but a group of area children spent the day in art classes.

Fifty-five local grade schoolers got to test their creativity through activities like painting and clay-shaping.

Program Coordinator Ryan Nelson says today is the perfect day for art.

"It's more so about experiencing the arts, becoming inspired," said Ryan Nelson, Peoria Art Guild's Program Coordinator, "Which I believe inspiration and the desire to change things is something very much related to the dream of Martin Luther King."

The Peoria Art Guild will host another kid's camp on February 21st.

If you would like to sign your child up, call the Guild at (309) 637-2787.
