The Metro Centre was the site of the Green Fair on Saturday.
The first-year event was the idea of Nancy Martin, who operates a store at the mall called "RE-".
That's RE- as in re-cycle and re-use. Martin says most people don't realize the money they can save recycling.
She says her event focuses on the average consumer and homeowner.
"I've been green my whole life. I thought I was just being thrifty but apparently I was green," said Martin. "I'd go out and give talks all the time and I thought why not bring it so that everyone can come and learn how to be green themselves."
There were about a dozen vendors at the Green Fair. Martin says she hopes to hold the event again next year.
