PEORIA, Ill. -- Peoria area residents got a chance to hear from Republican gubernatorial candidates Sunday night.

Gubernatorial candidates State Senator Kirk Dillard and State Senator Bill Brady both spoke at the Lincoln Day Dinner in Peoria.

Both candidates agreed that the state's economy is a number one priority.

"Our whole campaign is about what were going to do to restore economic vibrance to Illinois to bring jobs back and help our fiscal budget," said State Senator Bill Brady. "It will help people get back to work and on their feet and it's going to improve the climate of our state."

"Well the first thing I need to do is make Illinois what I call a destination economy for people who people that create jobs," said State Senator Kirk Dillard. "We are overtaxed, we are greatly over regulated, and we need job creation."

Republican candidates Dan Rutherford and Bruce Rauner did not attend the dinner.
