Monday morning's ceremony honored Susan Goodman Komen at her burial site at Parkview Cemetery in Peoria.

This year marks the 26th Annual Race for the Cure in Peoria.

Komen's sister Nancy Brinker launched the global breast cancer movement in 1982.

"Today's the day, a beautiful May day, the kind of day that Peorian's love, but especially my aunt loved. It's the day we remember her. We honor her, as we get ready to enter our race week with Race For the Cure on Saturday," Eric Brinker, Susan G. Komen's Nephew.

You can still register for the Race for the Cure at the Komen Memorial website.
