An audit conducted for the 2010 fiscal year shows that the Illinois Department of Transportation spent more than 33 Million Dollars in Overtime pay from June 2009 to July of last year.
The audit also stated that employees time cards did not match up with records and one particular employee had recorded over 300 hours of overtime over a three month period.
News 25 spoke with IDOT spokesman Josh Kauffman earlier today who said the allegations are being reviewed.
"The department has been successful in maintaining stability and consistency in financial reporting and continues to make improvements to the topics in question." Josh Kauffman, IDOT Spokesman.
Kauffman says IDOT is currently looking at new software for payment processing and is also conducting monthly financial reports.
