NORMAL, Ill -- Students, faculty and community members joined with ISU R.O.T.C. members Friday to honor former and current service members.

The Ceremony was somber and respectful; an opportunity to show recognition and support for those who have served expecting nothing in return for what they say is just doing their job.

It was also a reminder that everyday is a good day to honor those who fight to protect our country.

Captain Eric Anderson, of the U.S. Army says of the Veterans Day events, "We always appreciate the respect and thanks that people give us but it is always important for everybody to remember that we do have young men and women that are in extremely hostile environments everyday doing their job to protect our country."

Friday's ceremony ended with the dedication of the Veterans Memorial Garden on ISU's campus.
