A traveling ice cream salesman was arrested Wednesday afternoon for driving under the influence of drugs.

An off duty Springfield Police Department detective notified Illinois State Police when he observed the van driving erratically on Interstate 155.

Troopers discovered that the 23-year-old Springfield man was on his way to Peoria to sell ice cream in several neighborhoods.

Joshua D. Silvy was taken into custody and transported to the Tazewell County Jail.
