PEORIA, Ill -- Just in time for Easter, a local and national egg producer have teamed up to make a large and timely donation to the Peoria Area Food Bank.

Pearl Valley Egg and the United Egg Producers donated 240 boxes of eggs, that adds up to 43,000 eggs.

One area food pantry worker says this provides a healthy option and a fun Easter time activity.

"To have a balance of other food items so that you can have a staple in the household, and then with Easter coming up in just a very short period of time the children can always have fun coloring the eggs," Evelyn Ribordy, St. Vincent De Paul Pantry worker said.

The eggs will be distributed to over 100 Peoria Area Food pantries in 8 counties.
