PEORIA, Ill. -- Flowers, jewelry, a day of relaxation at the spa, moms are pretty easy to easy to buy for when it comes to Mother's Day. Father's Day on the other hand can be more challenging. We talk to a few people still looking for the perfect gift.
Whether they were looking for the perfect card or a shirt from their favorite sports team...the mall was full of last minute shoppers Friday night.
Connie Wittmer said, "We are looking for a...."
Whoops Connie, you don't want to ruin the surprise!
She is with her two children looking for something her husband has wanted for awhile. She continued, "I have just never bought it for him because I think it's kind of silly, but that's what he wants." Connie knows buying for dad isn't always easy. Connie said, "He would actually prefer I buy him nothing, because he doesn't want me to spend money."
Lee Baker is a father of two, and a grandfather, he is looking around Pro Image for an idea for his sons, he also sees some ideas for himself. He said, "Anything Yankees."
Yankees gear aside, Lee says he wants what a lot of dads want--some quality family time. Lee said, "I just want to be with my sons and enjoy my grandkids and have a nice cookout."
Down the road at Weaver Ridge the Director of Golf, Clay Stevens, said some dads just want guy time this Sunday, and tee times are booking up fast. Clay said, "The dad is just trying to sneak away, I mean primarily they try to get out early before all the Father's Day festivities get going."
If dad can't hit the links this weekend, maybe their loved ones are still hitting up the pro shop. Stevens says it sees a lot of traffic the week before Father's Day. He added, "A lot of gift certificates, primarily, just makes an easy Father's Day gift, some shirts, other things, rounds of golf for their dad."
So whether it's a round of golf, a yankees t-shirt, or Connie Wittmer said, "We are looking for a...." Oh, still not going to tell you!
You better get your shopping done because Father's Day comes but once a year.
