More than 60 students at Peoria Richwoods High School stepped outside of the classroom and put their critical thinking to the test Wednesday.

Each year Project Lead the Way gives students a glance at what happens in life beyond the classroom setting... in a professional field.

The program is designed to spark the interest of students in engineering disciplines, critical thinking and problem solving.

"They need to make that connection between what they do in school and what is out there in the real world. Having this opportunity to bring it all together really gives them a learning experience," says Anne Fox/PLTW Instructor.

The program's annual spring field trip makes stops at the PSA-Dewberry office where students observe engineers... and at Bradley University to learn about the program requirements at a collegiate level.
