Here's the bad news: the car won't start. Worse news: The Prime Minister is Russia's Vladimir Putin. It's one of life's little tense minutes...for the car dealer anyway.
The folks from the Lada Car Company were showing off their new Lada "Granta" -"Europe's cheapest car" to Prime Minister Putin.
First, there were problems getting the trunk open... Then, taking the keys, Putin tried to get the car started. Five times. But Putin called it "a good car" anyway.
When it finally did start, it was off for a test drive to the dealership, where Putin told journalists he was trying to pump the accelerator, which he wasn't supposed to do, and that's why he had trouble starting the car.
Ha ha--very funny- and the guy who didn't tip off Putin to that is now the Lada dealer on the "Road of Bones" in Siberia.
The car is scheduled for mass production in December.
