Students of Bloomington's brand new George-L-Evans Junior High School started classes last month.. And today school officials held an open house and dedication for the public.

The new facility includes four academic learning pods and student computer labs. The School's namesake is long-time educator George L. Evans. Evans saw the construction but passed away February of last year.. before its completion. His wife, Harriet, accepted today's dedication in his honor.

George Evans started with Unit 5 as a math and gym teacher in 19-54. He was appointed superintendent in 19-68 and held the position until his retirement in 19-85.
