PEORIA, Ill. -- It seems shootings have become more and more prevalent in Peoria, but newly released numbers tell a different story.
There were 54 calls of shots fired in Peoria in the month of October. The last time there were so few shots fired in October was 2003.
Police said murders were up, but two of them this year were domestic and one was ruled justifiable.
Peoria Police Captain Mike Eddlemon said the numbers do not tell the entire story.
"We are doing things we have never done before for reasons that are right, we have a very dedicated police department," Eddlemon said. "There is not one officer here who doesn't want to make this city a better place to live."
But what exactly are the police doing?
Ashley McNamee went undercover with them to find out.
Tune in Monday night at 10 to see what she discovered.
