NORMAL, Ill. -- Wednesday morning was a beautiful morning for a bike ride. It was “National Ride Your Bike to School Day”.

More than 140 students from Normal Community High School were spinning their wheels. Their journey ended at the new portion of Constitution Trail that sits right next to the high school.

"And one of the things they did accomplish is right here. This new trail section got put in and got higher priority as a result of the number of kids that were riding to school on a road that was particularly not safe for them to ride on, so I'm just out here today to help support what they are trying to accomplish,” said Normal Mayor Chris Koos.

The Mayor says the town will now try to pave a path on Airport Road, which connects to the new trail section.
