BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- A teen from Normal charged with murder pleads not guilty as prosecutors reveal the shooting was the result of a game of Russian roulette.

Last month, Lar'ron Carroll, 17, was charged with six felony counts, including first-degree murder, for the death of Bloomington teen Kuantrae "Trae" Massey, 16.

McLean County Prosecutor Bill Workman said, on January 21, Carroll put a bullet in the chamber of the pistol and pulled the trigger at someone present in the Danbury Court apartment.

It did not fire.

Carroll then pointed the gun at Massey shooting the teen in the chest. He died a short time later at a local hospital.

A status hearing has been set for April 4.
