PEORIA, Ill. -- The countdown is on for the grand opening of the Peoria Riverfront Museum...93 days to be exact.

Wednesday, crews were working hard to lay carpets and more in the newly constructed museum, but it wasn't the construction that was earning a round applause.

It was the generous $500,000 contribution from Archer Daniels Midland Company.

The ADM Cares funding program is a nationwide grant used to support education initiatives.

"And of course, the mission of the Peoria Riverfront Museum is to inspire lifelong learning for all," said Amber Kauffman, ADM Cares Specialist. "They do that by connecting the arts, science, history, and achievement through their collections, programs, and exhibitions."

The ADM Cares contribution will be used for the Illinois Riverfront Gallery. Which focuses on all the physical and business aspects of the river.

The Peoria Riverfront Museum is on schedule to opened October 20.
