Pekin High School was placed on lock-down for approximately one hour Wednesday afternoon following a robbery at the Busey Bank on Court Street.

The High School was placed on lock-down because of its proximity to the bank, directly across Court Street, and the fact that the suspect fled the scene on foot.

The school released a message to parents, faculty and staff saying that the lock-down was a precautionary measure and that they are "very proud of their staff and students and the manner in which they handled the situation."

The robbery remains under investigation by the Pekin Police Department.
