A tragic love story comes alive on the stage through dance when the Peoria Ballet presents "Romeo & Juliet" later this month at Five Points in Washington.
The performance is made possible through the sponsorship of CEFCU and a grant from the National Endowment of the Arts.
In tough economic times, the arts often suffer budget cuts. So, the lead dancers, Rebekah von Rathonyi and Josh Gullett, say they feel lucky to showcase their talent on the local stage. They stress that the financial support means they can use world class performers, costumes and set designs.
They also promise that the intimate setting of Five Points means that the choreography will really "pop" as dancers make their way to the stage through the audience from time to time.
Peoria Ballet's performance of "Romeo & Juliet" is Saturday, March 12th at 7:30 p.m. at Five Points in Washington. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students. Call 309-690-7990 to reserve a seat.
Tickets are also available at the door.
