Peoria Man Latest Homicide Victim

Peoria police are investigating an early Friday morning homicide.

It happened about 2:45 a.m. Friday in the 2800 block of Wiswall.

Authorities say they were flagged down and alerted by residents that some had been shot and was inside a home.

According to Peoria Public Information Officer, Doug Burgess,"[There was] something going on at the residence, some sort of party."

Upon arrival, officers found a man who had already died from his injuries inside a home at 2817 West Wiswall.

Peoria County Coroner Johnna Ingersoll says 28-year old Charles Herron was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:45 a.m. She says he had a gunshot wound to the head.

Ingersoll says Herron's father lives in Peoria and that Herron had been staying at the Wiswall residence.

Herron was identified as being well know to police and had a history of multiple drug related arrests.
