The man who was shot by a group of individuals on Peoria's South Side Friday night has succumbed to his injuries.

Philip L. Brown, 27, was pronounced dead early Sunday morning after being taken off life support, according to Peoria County Coroner Johnna Ingersoll.

Police say an officer heard about 20 gunshots fired Friday night and found Brown lying near the alley by the 1500 block of West Kettelle.

The coroner says Brown suffered multiple gunshot wounds including one to his head.

He was pronounced brain dead on Saturday at OSF St Francis Medical Center and was put on life support per family request.

Brown was taken off life support around 2:45 Sunday morning.

Police are still looking for the multiple shooters.

They say a second victim drove to the hospital by private vehicle, with a grazing gunshot wound to the back of his head.

An autopsy for Brown is scheduled for Monday.

Police say anyone with information is asked to call crimestoppers, 309-673-9000.
