TAZEWELL, CO, Ill. -- A portion of the Illinois River's Peoria dam, located in Tazewell County, is now damaged after police say two men crashed a stolen boat into it Saturday morning.
Conservation police were first notified about the incident just before 9 AM Saturday. They say 23-year-old William Lilenthal and 30-year-old Chad Robson, both of Peoria, Stole a 1966 house boat from the East Port Marina.
Police say Lilenthal drove the boat for a short time, with Robson on board, before going up and over the dam, damaging both it and the boat.
Neither man was injured, but they were arrested.
Both remain behind bars in Tazewell County Jail tonight on a number of charges, including theft Over $300, a Class 4 Felony.
Robson is also charged with Operation of a Watercraft While Under The Influence Of Alcohol, a Class A Misdemeanor.
