PEORIA, Ill -- It's not a matter of if the Warehouse District will be renovated, but what to put in it.

A consulting group hired by the city of Peoria and the Tri-county regional planning commission shared their research and suggestions on how to brand Peoria's historical Warehouse District.

Popular suggestions ranged from an 'Old Peoria Distillery District' to 'The Peoria Home and Design Supply Center.'

Peoria City Councilman Ryan Spain says picking a brand should happen before construction begins.

"The importance of these types of meetings is that by the time the construction is finishing, we can have the right implementation done so that private buildings are also opening to the public for residential opportunities, for business opportunities, and we can deliver that all at one time," Spain said.

Construction in the Warehouse District is expected to begin this summer.
