PEORIA, Ill. -- Several East Bluff homes have a little more curb appeal thanks to a $5,000 grant given to the 'Keep Peoria Beautiful'

The grant, from the Local Initiatives Support Corporation, was used to spruce up three homes on Kansas Street between Wisconsin and New York.

'Keep Peoria Beautiful' board members planted native and sustainable plants that don't require much maintenance by homeowners.

Executive Director Sue Dewey Blanton said they hope the beautification will have a snowball effect on the area.

"We thought if we got some really attractive landscaping in here that other neighbors down the street here would see it and see how lovely it looks and think oh I want to do that too," said Blanton.

'Keep Peoria Beautiful' hopes to apply for funding again next year to continue their beautification efforts in the East Bluff.
