A pilot is in serious condition after his private plane crashed late Wednesday afternoon at the Pekin municipal airport.

36 year old Erik White was the only passenger on board at the time of the crash.

He was taken by helicopter to OSF-St. Francis Medical Center.

White was said to be practicing "touch and go' landings when the engine stalled, and the plane dropped about 30 feet to the ground.

The plane, a 1963 four passenger Piper Cherokee 180 is owned by White Enterprises out of Forest City Illinois.
