BLOOMINGTON Ill -- There was a "pink out" Wednesday in Bloomington, as potential team captains met for the Susan G Komen 2nd Annual Bloomington Normal Race for the Cure.
Fundraising and recruiting were among the topics discussed.
Officials say their first race, last year, was a success with more than twenty-eight hundred participants and over two hundred thousand dollars raised.
This year, organizers are hoping to double participation and raise three hundred thousand dollars.
"Our ultimate goal is to rid this whole world of breast cancer, and Komen is certainly helping us take those big steps that way. But it's exciting to have it here in Bloomington Normal. This will be our second race. Last year the community really responded and we're looking forward to that this year also," said race Chairman Rich Beal.
The race will be held on Saturday, September 8th.
