For the first time in more than two decades, the mayor of Chicago is someone other than Richard Daley.

Former White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel took the oath of office this morning.

Thousands watched at Millennium Park. Guests included Vice President Joe Biden and Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood of Peoria.

Emanuel borrowed the theme of change from his former boss - President Obama.

He said Chicagoans deserve a better a school system, safer streets, and a more effective city government. Emanuel said he would lead the fight for those changes.
