Peoria congressman Aaron Schock says the first order of business when the GOP takes control of the house will be the repeal of the health care bill and extending the Bush tax cuts.

The 18th district representative says a democratically controlled senate and republican controlled congress will ensure a system of checks and balances and hopefully,in his words, more moderation.

"I could only speak for myself in the Republican conference," Schock said. "I'm going to speaking up to my leadership and talk about look, we need to find common ground with the President. We need to add certainty to the private sector, to the entrepreneurs, to the employers out there, so they feel comfortable to hire and expand their businesses right now."

Schock won re-election easily over democrat D.K. Hirner.
