Safety is a concern during Thursday's annual St. Patrick's Day parade in downtown Peoria.

This year there are thick white lines painted on both sides of the streets that make up the parade route. This "safe zone" is the area where people attending the parade must stay behind. The idea is to keep parade goers at a safe distance from traffic while also freeing up sidewalks.

Thursday's parade begins at 11 am.
