PEORIA, Ill -- East Bluff Residents are taking their future by the hand and working together to make their neighborhood cleaner and safer.
Tuesday night, residents gathered for a "Take Back the Neighborhood" public forum.
The night included presentations on Neighborhood Watch programs, street gangs and the 9-1-1 system.
The group also watched a video produced by community teenagers on what they would change about the East Bluff.
Neighborhood Development Specialist Steve Fairbanks said, "There perspectives of what they would like to see change in the neighborhood are the same is the adults which is they would like to see less nuisance, less trash, less crime, less gang banging that sort of thing."
East Bluff Resident Virginia Clarke said, "It takes a whole neighborhood to take care of just one block. Once you start taking care of just one block and people start understanding that we're not going to allow it things will start to die down."
This was the second "Take Back the Neighborhood" public forum.
Since the first meeting, the group has formed 3 Neighborhood Watch groups.
