PEORIA, Ill -- The large majority of schools in central Illinois will still be closed Tuesday.

School district administrators say they don't want to put kids at risk by asking them to wait outside for buses when its this cold.

"We give them a good approximate time for when the bus is supposed to be there, but it is a good 10 to 15 minutes to wait for the bus and that is being advised against by the national weather service," said Chris Coplan, District 150 spokesman.

Another major concern is the snow packed roads which could make travel dangerous for buses and teachers commuting.

One thing District 150 isn't worried about is making up the snow day.

"Right now we are planning on using Casimir Pulaski Day to make up for this in our calendar," said Coplan.

Casimir Pulaski Day this year falls on March 3.
