PEKIN ~ Richard Wayne Cramer, 85 of Pekin, passed away at 5:38 p.m. Sunday, May 27, 2012 at Pekin Manor.
Born July 3, 1926 in South Pekin to Marion R. and Margaret Mae (Jones) Cramer, he married Arlene F. Zehr on August 12, 1951 in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Denise (Rev. Jim) West of Pekin; two sons, Randall (Angela) Cramer of Sandwich and Richard (Luz) Cramer of Desoto, TX; two grandsons, David West of Pekin and Nathan Cramer of Sandwich and one sister, Emma "Char" Higgins of Decatur, Alabama.
He was a World War II Army veteran.
Richard worked for many years as a custodian for Pekin Public Schools District 108 at C.B. Smith, Douglas and Washington Schools. He had previously worked at Caterpillar, Inc. and at Cramer's Market on lower Derby Street in Pekin.
He was a member of Second Reformed Church in Pekin. Richard loved woodworking and fishing.
His memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 1, 2012 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. The Rev. Jim West, his son-in-law, will officiate. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin, with military rites provided by the United States Army and the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team.
