Alma Elizabeth “Liz” Morrow, 85, of Peoria, formerly of Harvard, passed away at 12:40 p.m. on Thursday, June 21, 2012, at Lutheran Hillside Village in Peoria.
Funeral services will be at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 27, 2012, at United Presbyterian Church of Peoria, with Pastor Paul Park officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, prior to services at United Presbyterian Church of Peoria. Interment will be noon on Thursday, June 28, 2012 at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Harvard.
Liz was born on March 3, 1927, a daughter of Owen and Lula (Fuller) Davenport. She married Dr. William S. Morrow on July 1, 1951 in Chicago. He preceded her in death on December 28, 2003 in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Marybeth Morrow; and six brothers and sisters, Jay, Bruce, William, Doris, Linda and Janice.
She is survived by her daughters, Susan (Gary) Hulin of Wyoming and Maureen (Sean) Leuba of Peoria; son, William S. (Liz) Morrow of Mahomet; grandsons, Justin, Jack and Ryan Leuba, all of Peoria, and Nicholas Morrow of Mahomet; sister, Virginia (Sylvester) Gossman of Evansville, IN; brother, Wendell (Suzanne) Davenport of Ft. Wayne, IN; step granddaughters, LuAnn (Ken) Tarango of Dallas, TX and Heidi Hulin of Euless, TX; step great grandson, Garrett Tarango of Dallas; and several nieces and nephews.
Liz graduated from the registered nursing program at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN and was employed at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, where she met her husband. Throughout the years, she assisted her husband in his practice.
She was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Harvard, where she completed her Rite of Christian Initiation.
Liz enjoyed traveling, playing bridge, golfing, gardening, reading and spending time with her grandchildren.
She loved her family dearly and always put others before herself. She will be remembered as a loving, spirited, intelligent and hardworking woman, with a good sense of humor.
Memorial contributions may be made in Liz’s memory to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) or to the Lutheran Hillside Village Foundation in Peoria.
